Dishwasher Repair GuidelinesIs your dishwasher leaking water or not starting? Does it make funny sounds or are your dishes still dirty after the washing cycle? If this happens it’s probably time for a dishwasher repair. Check out these common dishwasher problems and simple troubleshooting guide.
One of the most common symptom that a dishwasher repair is in order is because the appliance will not power on. There are no lights, no sounds and water does not go through the machine. When this happens the first thing to check is whether or not the appliance is plugged in properly. Check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker. Also inspect the wiring for cuts and breaks.
When this happens the first thing to do is to check for the seals in the main tub, float, heating element and blower diffuser. You also need to check the pump, drain hoses and water inlet valve.
Dishwashers typically emit a humming sound throughout the dishwashing cycle. When the humming seems loud or if it starts emitting funny sounds then it’s time for a dishwasher repair. Noise can be caused by damage to the spray arm. The drain could also be obstructed or the filters clogged.
When the dishwasher cannot complete its wash cycle its best the timer first. Make sure that the setting is right or reset the cycle. Also check if the thermostat and the heating element are working properly.
Rust is just one of the most common problems with dishwashers. When the racks begin to rust a simple dishwasher repair is to scrub the interior with oxalic acid. For the exterior, simply repair the exposed metal with red oxide.
